Not everyone in Campbelltown wears black jeans and flannelette shirts but nearly everyone is employed in a data entry job. Typing has been the number one hobby amongst the inhabitants of this suburb in the western suburbs of Sydney. A married couple, Cheryl and Trevor, started their own home based business as typists for hire. They were overwhelmed by the response they received from local companies looking to outsource their administrative tasks.
“We couldn’t believe it,” smiled Trevor, running his fingers through his unkempt
mullet, “One day we were on the dole and the next we were living on easy street.
I had no idea how many data entry jobs there were in Campbelltown. We are actually
considering hiring a couple of workers to help us out with some of the bigger
contracts. We’ve never been employers before so it’s all pretty exciting at the
moment. Who would’ve thought being able to type fast and accurately would end
up paying
off big time?”
“My mum taught me how to type when I was knee high to a grasshopper,” Cheryl
sniggered, exposing her toothless smile, “I just wish she was still alive to
see me now. I still can’t believe that Trevor and I were able to secure data
entry jobs. In Campbelltown you’re lucky if you can get a job at the local supermarket,
let alone make a living at home from typing. I’m stoked and Trevor is rapt. Data
entry has opened up doors for me that I thought would be locked forever. Thank
god for the internet!”
